Places To Go - Things To Do

Here is a list of some of the places I know of, have heard of, or are my favorites at the lake.  We have been going to the lake for over fifteen years now and if you have a question just ask us!  We should know  the answer or know someone who does.

Shopping

Osage Beach

  • 110 Store Outlet Mall: Osage Beach Premium Outlets http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=57
  • Super Wal-Mart, Super Target, Pier One, Lowes, Home Depot
  • Marshalls Big store with furniture and great home furnishings
  • The Nautical Store in the Osage Beach Mall - more nautical/tropical decor than I've ever seen anywhere else

Laurie

  • Sun & Fun for swimming suits
  • ResortWear for casual but nice clothing – right next to Sunrise Cantina restaurant
  • Family Creations for home furnishings with the lake and lodge theme, plus they make their own candles that smell terrific
  • Bass Pro Shop for your outdoor needs

Camdenton

  • Super Walmart
  • Gerbes groceries

Boating

  • Boat Rentals are very plentiful at the lake.  If you are staying at Bill & Rubys, Sparkling Waters, or Barb & Mels Guest Houses the most convenient place to rent a boat or jet ski is at Lakeview Resorts Bikini Pier which is less than a half mile away and in the same cove.  They have the high flying balloon in the cove to signal that there is a gas dock there and they also do parasailing. http://www.lakeview-resort.com
  • There is also a Jet Ski place on TT adjacent to the State Park boat ramp
  • When you are down there you will see tons of jet ski rental signs at major intersections - keep your eyes open
  • Jet Ski rentals at the Conoco station at the intersection of F road and TT
  • Here is a listing of boat/jet ski rental locations: http://www.funlake.com/marine/index.php?cat=pwc
  • Or you can take a scenic or dinner cruise on the Celebration Cruise boat or the Tom Sawyer

Or if bigger is your style, you can also charter a 46’ Carver with captain from Silver Lining Charter or First Mate Yacht Charter - see their website at http://www.firstmatecharters.com/

After you have your boat you need to pick a “by water” destination, these places are some of the lakes most popular and are all accessible by the water:
3MM Docknockers for their crab legs and Thursday night live crab races

  • 7MM Shady Gators for their blended rum drinks and wings
  • 7MM Toad Cove for an assortment of restaurants, nightclubs and people watching - www.toadcove.com
  • 10 MM  Frankie & Louie’s Beach Front Grill  http://deervalleypark.com
  • 11 MM  Ozark BBQ
  • 13 MM  Bambooze
  • 24 MM  Paradise
  • 38 MM  Hooligan Bay for their really great nachos
  • 6.5 MM of the Gravois the Flaming Dummy
  • 47 MM  Halfway Inn (formerly Big Dick’s Halfway Inn) their big claim to fame is their “minnow shot”
You can also only go to party cove by water

Restaurants

  • My favorite barbeque restaurant that is close to the house, reasonably priced and really good is
    B & P Bar-B-Q off of highway 5 in Sunrise Beach on F Road
  • In my opinion the best pizza on the lake is at Frankie & Louie's at the 10MM, and I love their little boutique! http://deervalleypark.com
  • Here is a website with a ton of restaurant listings: http://www.funlake.com/dining/index.php
  • If you want something really different there is a restaurant in a cave. It’s very different and it’s a bit of a drive but when you get there you get in their van and they take you to an elevator where you go down into the cave.  They serve BBQ  food is good, not gourmet but it has an amazing view of the Gasconade River Valley.  It’s the Caveman Bar-BQ & Steak House in Richland, MO   Hours: Noon - 9:00 pm. Phone: 573-765-4554

Sightseeing & Misc.

  • Bridal Cave - http://www.land-we-love.com/bridal_cave.htm
  • The rare swinging cable bridges: http://www.funlake.com/do_see/daytrips/swinging_bridges.php
  • Ha Ha Tonka State Park castle  www.mostateparks.com/hahatonka.htm Very cool place, lots of history and just beautiful in the fall when the leaves have turned, and free
  • Bagnell Dam You can’t go inside for tours anymore since 9/11 but you can drive down below the dam and see pictorials of the equipment
  • Visit the Dam shopping area called “the strip”   It has lots of “unique” shops
  • Golfing: http://www.funlake.com/do_see/golf/index.php   My golfing friends say their favorite is Old Kinderhook
  • Osage Beach: Pirates Cove Adventure Golf (miniature golf), Timber Falls Indoor Water Park @ Tan-Tar-A resort, Putt N Stuff (go carts, mini golf, arcade), Miner Mikes, Big Surf (water park) and Big Shot (go carts)
  • Willmore Lodge 1930’s built log home right near the dam that was one of the original structures built. It is on the National Historic register and it has an interesting history and is now home of the Chamber of Commerce. http://www.willmorelodge.com/

The Westside Chamber is located on Highway 5 right next to First National Bank at the intersection of Highway 5 and 5-35 They have all kinds of brochures and helpful information

Please remember that DWI also applies on the water, it’s called a BWI
